About The Author

Welcome to Ricky’s Website

I’m glad you’re here.

For more than forty years, I worked as a systems engineer supporting America’s space and defense programs. Along the way, God was writing a much greater story than the one I thought I was living. Through seasons of success, disappointment, restoration, and renewed purpose, He faithfully taught me that some of life’s greatest lessons are learned on the valley roads.

Today I enjoy writing, speaking, and encouraging others through stories of faith, perseverance, and God’s unwavering grace. My prayer is that whether you’re reading one of my books, exploring these pages, or simply stopping by for a few moments, you’ll leave encouraged and reminded that no road is ever walked alone.

Pull up a chair. There’s room here for your story, too.

Why I Write

I’ve always enjoyed writing. Even as a kid, writing short stories was much more than a hobby—it was a way to exercise my imagination and explore the world around me. As life unfolded, that desire was often set aside, but in His perfect timing, the Lord rekindled it and placed a new purpose in my heart: to write for His glory.

One thing you’ll quickly discover is that I write much the way I speak. My stories and reflections are shared in a conversational style that reflects my Southern roots and a lifetime of sitting around kitchen tables, front porches, and fellowship halls with family and friends. My goal has never been literary perfection—it’s simply to tell the truth with honesty, warmth, and, I hope, a little encouragement along the way.

My first book, From Valley Roads to Victory, is more than a memoir. It is the testimony of God’s faithfulness through the ordinary and extraordinary seasons of life. Since beginning my walk with Christ in 2013, I’ve come to realize that every journey has both a starting point and a destination. My childhood was the beginning of my story; learning to walk daily in God’s will is its continuing destination. Everything in between is the road of faith.

Whether through memoir, devotionals, or future books, my desire is to share the lessons God continues to teach me, encourage those who may be walking difficult roads, and point readers to the hope that is found in Jesus Christ.

My prayer is that these writings remind you that no valley is beyond the reach of God’s grace.

Thankfulness for the Journey

As this new season of writing unfolds, I find myself more thankful than ever for the Lord’s faithfulness. It has never been clearer to me that His presence is constant, His grace is sufficient, and His hand is always extended to guide us along life’s journey.

Writing has become more than simply putting words on a page. It has become another step in learning to surrender more fully to His will, trusting that He continues to shape my life—and these writings—for the purpose He has planned.

My next prayer is that everything you find here ultimately points you to the hope, grace, and unfailing love of Jesus Christ.
